Promoting Independence and Self-Sufficiency through Employment Job Opportunities and Basic Skills (PROMISE JOBS)
This program provides work and training services for people in families receiving FIP cash assistance. Program services include:
- Assessment of job readiness
- Job readiness and job search activities:
- Job readiness skills training
- Structured job search
- Individual job search
- Unplanned job opportunities
- Rehabilitation activities
- Mental Health Treatment
- Substance Abuse Treatment
- Other Rehabilitation
- Employment-related services
- Employment (full-time, part-time, self-employment, subsidized employment, and on-the-job training)
- Work Experience Placement (WEP)
- Unpaid Community Service
- Basic education
- High school completion, or high school equivalency,
- English as a Secondary Language (ESL)
- Adult Basic Education (ABE)
- Post-secondary education, including targeted employment-related education and short-term training.
- Supportive services
- Referral to family planning counseling,
- Parenting classes,
- Family Self-Sufficiency Grant (FSSG)
- Family Development and Self-Sufficiency (FaDSS) or other family development programs. Please visit https://humanrights.iowa.gov/dcaa/fadss
The program also pays child care expenses for people participating in these activities and transportation for people in activities other than paid work.
SNAP Employment and Training
SNAP Employment and Training (E&T) SNAP recipients with no-cost training and education to achieve self-sufficiency and stability. Participants may enroll in a variety of programs including, but not limited to:
- Education Services
- High school equivalency, ESL, and continuing education
- Short-term certificate or diploma
- Two-year credit degree programs for in-demand industries
- Industry specific training programs
- Job search activities
