Although the health care needs of women are not limited to reproductive health, reproductive health is a key determinant of women’s overall health. Women generally face greater health care needs and are more likely than men to use health care throughout their adult lives. Women’s reproductive health care needs require them to get regular check-ups and cancer screenings whether or not they have children.
All women who receive health care coverage through the Iowa Health and Wellness Plan will receive comprehensive coverage for health services women need and use including preventive services (mammograms, pap tests, vaccinations, and more), prescription drug coverage (medicine for birth control, blood pressure, blood sugar, etc.), hospitalizations, emergency care, and more.
