Pursuant to the authority of Iowa Code Section 249A.4, the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) intends to renew the Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) Brain Injury (BI) Waiver effective October 1, 2019. This notice provides details about the BI Waiver renewal and serves to open the 30-day public comment period which closes on May 13, 2019.
Summary
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) authorizes 1915(c) HCBS Waivers for a period of five years. The BI Waiver renewal application includes the adoption of the Mayo Portland Adaptability Inventory (MPAI) as a supplement to the current BI Waiver assessment tools used for level of care and service planning. There are no other substantive changes to the currently approved waiver.
