Pursuant to the authority of Iowa Code Section 249A.4, the Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) has proposed changes to the 2021 Managed Care Quality Plan. The State reviews and updates the quality strategy as needed, but no less than once every 3 years as described in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 42 CFR § 438.340.
The State must draft and implement a written quality strategy for assessing and improving the quality of health care and services furnished to Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) enrollees as described in 42 CFR § 438.340. The proposed changes are summarized below:
- CFR Updates: The State updated the plan to reflect correct CFR references and ensure federal requirements are met.
- Updated Goals and Activities:
- Updated goals to align with current data and Managed Care activities.
- Categorized and revised goals for clarity.
- Removed references to the State Innovation Model Grant.
- Clarified language throughout the document with addition of bullets and graphs as well as reference to links for reporting and contract language.
- Updated list of advisory and oversight committees.
