Supporting strategies are activities that may be necessary, but are not always sufficient to affect changes in individuals' screening behaviors. Therefore, they should be implemented with the intent of enhancing the effect of the priority Evidence Based Interventions (EBIs).
Examples include:
- Small media could be used in concert with client reminders.
- Patient navigators could be used to support the use of client and provider reminders and as a way to reduce structural barriers.
- Health information technology could be used to support population data management in the implementation of client and patient reminders.
There are a wide variety of possible combinations of priority EBIs and supporting strategies. Clinics should choose the combination that best meets their overall clinic goals and the needs of their target populations.
