The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training (E&T) can assist you in achieving your education, career and employment goals through occupational and vocational education, skills training and supportive services while participating at no cost! SNAP E&T is a combined effort between Iowa HHS, Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) and community partnerships.
HHS determines eligibility for SNAP E&T. You may be eligible if you are receiving SNAP benefits or have a pending SNAP application and:
- Are 18 or older
- *Special considerations given to 16-17 who already have a high school diploma or are working toward a high school diploma or equivalent
- Do not receive FIP/PROMISE JOBS services
- Will be able and ready to work within one year of education/training completion
SNAP E&T Program Offerings
- Education Services
- High school equivalency, ESL, and continuing education
- Short-term certificate or diploma
- Two-year credit degree programs for in-demand industries
- Work Readiness
- Industry-specific training programs
- Job search activities
- Assistance paying for some expenses related to participating in these activities, including transportation and childcare.
