The mission of the Glenwood Resource Center (GRC) is to prepare and support individuals to live in the community of their choice.

Structure of the Organization

The facility is operated by the Iowa HHS under the directorship of Kelly Garcia and the leadership of Cory Turner, Director, State-Operated Specialty Care Division. The facility's superintendent is Marsha Edgington.  

Glenwood Resource Center (GRC) offers a continuum of care to Iowans experiencing intellectual disabilities. Located in southwest Iowa, GRC provides residential services for individuals who have struggled to be successful in the community, provides in home support for those who transition to the community and assists community-based providers by providing assessments, training and other technical support. The goal of all GRC services is to help individuals be successful in their communities.

How to Apply for Services or Refer Someone to This Facility

To access assistance, families should contact their local county community services program.

If a decision is made to apply for GRC ICF/ID services, the application process begins by the Managed Care Organization (MCO) contacting Troy Kroeger at tkroege@dhs.state.ia.us or 515-322-3158.

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is re-evaluating existing strategies and identifying new ones to enhance our commitment to ensuring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities have access to the least restrictive setting to support high quality of life. 

GRC Services

Eligibility and Funding

Consultations may be provided to those in need, as resources and expertise among professionals employed at GRC are available to meet individual needs. A variety of funding strategies are used related to these services.

Supported Community Living services are offered through the Home and Community-Based (HCBS) Waiver programs. GRC may provide services and access funding for those approved for HCBS Waiver eligibility in the following area: Intellectual Disability Waiver.

People Served

The Glenwood Resource Center campus is located in Glenwood, Iowa and serves people mainly from a 52-county catchment area within the state.

Residential services (ICF/ID) are provided on the campus for approximately 57 people diagnosed with an intellectual disability.
