Members receive a living allowance and education award for their service, while gaining a professional network, skills, and professional development to forge a successful career in public health.
Iowa Community Corps AmeriCorps members make a tangible difference in the communities they serve through the following efforts:
Build Capacity
- Help organizations expand or enhance program services to reach more community members through quality programs
Expand Food Security
- Support programs that increase access to nutritious and culturally appropriate foods
Provide Resource Navigation
- Connect individuals and families to public health resources that are available in their communities
Promote Civic Engagement
- Engage community members while getting experience in volunteer management
Community Health Worker Training
Community Health Workers are a growing workforce of health professionals that advance care coordination, health equity, and population health. The Iowa Community Corps offers Community Health Worker training and certification to all members. Members will complete the Community Health Worker Professional Skills Training and receive a professional certificate from DMACC upon completion.
