Applying for SNAP in Iowa

- Complete Your Interview: Applicants must complete an interview, likely by phone. This is a standard part of the process and helps verify information.

A Notice of Decision (NOD) will be made within 30 days of your interview.
If you're approved for SNAP, you will receive your SNAP EBT Card in the mail within roughly 10 days of receiving your NOD.

- How it’s scheduled: Most SNAP interviews are conducted by phone. You’ll receive a notice with the date and time or instructions on how to call in.
- What to expect: A caseworker will ask questions about your income, household members, expenses, and any special circumstances.
- What to have ready: Pay stubs, rent or mortgage information, utility costs, childcare or medical expenses, and identification for household members (if available).
- If you miss your interview: You will be given a chance to reschedule. However, delays in completing your interview may delay your benefits.
