The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Employment and Training (E&T) can assist you in achieving your education, career, and employment goals through occupational and vocational education, skills training, and supportive services while participating at no cost!
The SNAP E&T program helps Iowans build the skills, experience, and confidence needed to succeed in the workforce. Through free employment and training opportunities, participants can strengthen their career path, gain stability, and move toward long‑term independence. Participants may enroll in:
Education Services
High school equivalency, ESL, and continuing education
Short-term certificate or diploma
Two-year credit degree programs for in-demand industries
Work Readiness
Industry-specific training programs
Job search activities
Assistance paying for some expenses related to participating in these activities, including transportation and childcare.

Personal Support from your own SNAP E&T Case Manager who will work with you every step of the way. They will:
Together, you’ll review your education, work history, skills, challenges, support systems, and motivation to create a plan that fits your goals.
Help you look at your education, work history, skills, challenges, support systems, and attitude so you can build a plan that works for you.
Identify the services and resources you need to succeed.
Stay connected. Your Case Manager will check in regularly, track your progress, offer coaching, and connect you to helpful programs and referrals.
Potential financial supports include:
Tuition assistance (including books, fees, and other necessary training materials)
Transportation assistance
Clothing, uniforms, equipment, tools, and materials necessary for training, education, job search, and employment
Reasonable accommodation supplies
Dependent Care Assistance
Medical Supports – (including minor dental work)
You must already be receiving SNAP benefits or be a SNAP applicant with a pending eligibility determination. Apply for SNAP here.
