Iowa families who qualify for the Healthy Kids Iowa Pilot Program get expanded access to additional food throughout June, July, and August, such as fruits, vegetables, dairy items, grains, and proteins.
Iowa will contract with the six Feeding America Food Banks to administer the program.
The food banks will determine qualifying locations based on identified areas of need throughout their service area, ensuring the entire state is served.
The qualifying locations will accept applications from households and determine eligibility. The application for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) will be used as the application for the program.
Households at 185% or below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
