Families will visit their local participating pantry and complete the TEFAP application at each site and self-attest to eligibility to be approved for the program. Each child will receive up to $40 of healthy foods per month for the months of June, July, and August.
Healthy Kids Iowa food is only available once per month, per eligible child, for the months of June, July, and August.
Eligible children may only visit one site per month for Healthy Kids Iowa foods.
During the summer break, Iowa families can also access free meals and snacks for all children ages 18 and under at meal sites across the state. The Iowa Department of Education’s Summer Nutrition Programs provide hundreds of meal sites in local and nearby communities that help increase access to healthy food options in low-income areas during the summer months. Free meals and snacks are offered at a variety of community locations, including schools, churches, community centers, parks, libraries and camps, among others.
