Food Assistance

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) provides food and meals at no cost through participating food pantries and meal sites. The types of foods available varies based on availability and may include:

  • Beans: canned, dried
  • Dairy: milk, cheese: fresh
  • Eggs: Fresh
  • Fruit: canned, dried, fresh, frozen
  • Lentils: dry
  • Meat/fish: canned, frozen
  • Pasta/Rice
  • Vegetables: canned

TEFAP Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to receive TEFAP, you must self-attest to the following criteria:

  • Household lives in Iowa, and
  • Household is at or below 185% of the federal poverty level, or
  • Household receives SNAP and/or Free and Reduced Lunch 

Participants can fill out the TEFAP form at their local participating food pantry.
