Iowa Medicaid Announces Transition to New Core Standardized Assessment (CSA) Vendor

CareStar has been awarded the new Core Standardized Assessment (CSA) contract with Iowa Medicaid and will assume responsibility for scheduling and conducting assessments beginning this summer.
Key transition dates include:
- Effective June 1, 2026, CareStar will begin scheduling all assessments due July 1, 2026, and after.
- Effective July 1, 2026, CareStar will begin completing all assessments.
- Telligen will continue conducting assessments that are currently scheduled during the month of June.
Please note that providers and members should not contact CareStar regarding scheduling or assessments prior to June 1, 2026.

The chart reflects the HOME project Phase I services. In Phase I Iowa HHS will replace the Children's Mental Health (CMH), Health and Disability (HD), AIDS/HIV, and Physical Disability (PD) waivers with the Adults with Disabilities (AD) and Children and Youth (CY) waivers.
