Prevention Focused Mentoring (IT:PFM) Grant funding provides support to community and school-based youth mentoring programs. These programs support mentee/mentor matches that meet year-round. All mentoring programs support the Behavioral Health Service System State Plan (4.13 MB) .pdf through prevention and early intervention in the areas of substance use (alcohol, tobacco, and nicotine products, and other drugs) prevention, problem gambling prevention, suicide prevention and mental health promotion. Programs follow the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring, established by the National Mentoring Partnership, and maintain certification through Iowa MENTOR.
